The Pearl

I think that the last line means that the trouble is gone and the pearl will bring no more grief or evil. I think that the symbolism of this line is that the greed is gone for the family, but in truth the greed and evil is not gone for good it will come back maybe in another form, but it will be back. The music of the pearl has been used through out the story in good and bad situations, when it begins to fade away I figured that it means that it is over and done with. The pearl has destroyed the small family and they are finally rid of it. The pearl has had a huge effect on the society because they have discovered what the greed and evil in a society can bring to a family like Kino's, but they know it will be back and when it is they can think of what it did to Kino and Juana and Coyotito and remember that it was an evil thing that destroyed them. Although the evil may be gone for the small family so is the hope and opportunity that they too could have a better life and I think that because Coyotito was killed and the pearl is gone they may never have the good life they hoped to have. The society that they live in may never be the same again.
